The applicants who are residents of Canada and have lived in Canada for 1095 days (3 years) in 5 years prior to the application date, can apply for Canadian citizenship.

The applicants also must prove that they have English or French proficiency and they have filed/paid their taxes in previous years. Also, they should successfully pass the test on Canadian responsibilities and knowledge.

Applicants under the age of 18 and over 54 years are exempt from the Canadian language proficiency and knowledge test.
