Is it possible to work in Canada with a tourist visa?

Tourist visas are issued to individuals who intend to visit Canada for leisure and sightseeing purposes. The tourist visa allows applicants to travel to various parts of the country and visit different provinces or their relatives in Canada. A person entering Canada as a visitor or tourist on a tourist visa does not have the right to work in Canada, and in fact, working with a tourist visa in Canada is illegal.

Working in Canada with a tourist visa can lead to the person being expelled from Canada, and re-entry may also be prohibited. To work in Canada as a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, you do not need a visa, but as a foreign national to work in Canada, you need a work visa, commonly known as a Work Permit.

It’s important to note that international students in Canada on a study visa are allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week. If you can find work in Canada while on a tourist visa, you can later apply for a work visa and work permit after obtaining a job offer.

Changing from a tourist visa to a work visa in Canada is possible under certain conditions.
