Canada Geography

Canada is the second-largest country in the world situated in the North American continent. Canada is situated between three oceans, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Arctic Ocean and the United States is located in the south of this country. Canada with an area of about 9.98 million Kilometer square is the second-largest country in the world. The border between Canada and the United States is the world’s longest land border. A large amount area of Canada is empty of a resident because of cold and arctic weather. In 2016, Canada’s population was estimated 35,151,728 and most of them are residing in the southern parts (150Kms far from the Southern border) and 80 percent of Canada’s population are living in large cities.

Canada can be divided into four main regions: Western Canada, Central Canada, Atlantic Canada, and Northern Canada. This country is divided into ten provinces and 3 territories. Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Colombia, Manitoba, Prince Edward Islands, New Brunswick, New Foundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Yukon, and Northwestern Territories are Canada’s ten provinces and three territories.

The Capital city of Canada is Ottawa which is located in Ontario Province. The largest, most populated and economically effective cities of Canada are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Among the large and populated Canadian cities, Winnipeg in Manitoba is the coldest during winters and Vancouver in BC experience milder winters.

Canada is well-known for its cold and arctic weather. Canada’s Climate Changes from arctic cold weather in the north and hot summers in the south.

 Ontario, Canada’s largest and most powerful province of Canada in terms of economy and population, is located in the east of Canada between the provinces of Quebec and Manitoba. From the south, it borders the authorized states of Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York and to the north leads to Hudson Bay and James Bay. Important cities in this province include Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Kitchener, Waterloo, London, Windsor, and Kingston.

 

Quebec is located in eastern Canada and is the largest province in Canada. The most important city in this province is Montreal, and the language of most people is French.

British Columbia is Canada’s westernmost province and is located between the Pacific Ocean and the Rocky Mountains. The capital city of British Colombia is Victoria and its largest city, Vancouver, is one of the top ten cities in the world to live in.

The province of Alberta, in western Canada, is located between the provinces of British Columbia and Saskatchewan. The capital of this province is  Edmonton and the most important city is Calgary.
Manitoba is another Canadian province located between Ontario and Saskatchewan. The capital city of Manitoba is Winnipeg. Manitoba is one of Canada’s three flourishing provinces.
Saskatchewan is the only province in Canada that has no natural border. It is the sunniest province in Canada and is a prime location for agriculture. This capital city of this province is the city of Regina. Prince Edward Island is another Canadian province that is made up of several islands in eastern Canada. In terms of area and population, it is Canada’s smallest and least populated province. Nova Scotia is a peninsula on the east of Canada. Its center is Halifax. The province, along with New Brunswick and the Prince Edward Islands, is Canada’s three Maritime provinces. New Brunswick is located in eastern Canada, with 85 percent of the province covered by forests. The pristine areas of this province are large. The capital city of the province is Fredericton, and the cities of St. John and Moncton are major cities.
Newfoundland and Labrador is the easternmost province of Canada. The province consists of two parts, Newfoundland island, and Labrador region. 94% of the population lives on the island of Newfoundland. The capital of this province is St. John’s.
